Written, shot and edited on the Metropolitan film school script-to-screen one month course. It was supported by the British council and screened at numerous international film festivals. Mr John is the the touching and darkly comic story of an agrophobic man, terrified of letting go of his security and trapped by the comforts of technology. Starring Benedict Wong and Nicola Stephenson, music kindly donated by I am Kloot.
I am very proud of this, my first short film.
My term four LFS directing project; shot in a week using a 35 mm Panavision Gold Camera and 3600 feet of kodak stock, on a constructed set in the studio. Location photography in Lewisham. Music composed by Chloe Nicholson. Great performances from Ellena Stacey, Lynn Blakley and Roger Evans as the Vicar. DOP and graphic design by Nick Wassell. The Voice of Stanley Walker was performed by myself.
Based on the painting by Johan Liss, 'Judith' is the story of a woman who brutally avenges her husbands murder. Alison King stars as "Judith" in a modern twist on this graphic tale of revenge. I wrote and directed the film in my second term at the London Film school, shot in a single day without any recorded sound. The film was produced in collaboration with the national gallery.
